Gombe United goalkeeper Itodo Akor showcased his extraordinary skills and set a new benchmark for individual excellence in the Nigeria Premier Football League during their matchday five fixture against his former club, Akwa United.
The game was an epic battle with Kufre Ebong eventually netting the lone goal for Akwa United to secure a 1-0 victory. However, the spotlight was undeniably on Itodo Akor, who delivered a jaw-dropping display of goalkeeping prowess.
He managed an astonishing 14 saves throughout the game, setting a new individual record for the highest number of saves in a single Nigeria Premier Football League match.
“I feel really delighted to have been able to make a significant contribution to my team [Gombe United], even though the result didn’t go our way.
“Returning here to play against my former club [Akwa United], had always been a special experience, and setting a new record for saves in a single game is something I will always cherish.
