Gombe United goalkeeper Itodo Akor showcased his extraordinary skills and set a new benchmark for individual excellence in the Nigeria Premier Football League during their matchday five fixture against his former club, Akwa United.

The game was an epic battle with Kufre Ebong eventually netting the lone goal for Akwa United to secure a 1-0 victory. However, the spotlight was undeniably on Itodo Akor, who delivered a jaw-dropping display of goalkeeping prowess.

He managed an astonishing 14 saves throughout the game, setting a new individual record for the highest number of saves in a single Nigeria Premier Football League match.

“Returning here to play against my former club [Akwa United], had always been a special experience, and setting a new record for saves in a single game is something I will always cherish.

“I owe this achievement to my teammates, who worked tirelessly to support me throughout the match. The fans were fantastic as well; their cheers and encouragement pushed me to give my best. Records are made to be broken, but for now, I’m thrilled to have my name associated with this one.

“I’m determined to keep working hard and improving as a goalkeeper. Every game is a chance to learn and grow, and I look forward to more challenges in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
