Ice-cool Tochukwu Micheal was delighted to hit Nasarawa United’s winner from the spot in Sunday’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Rivers United.
The Nigerian midfield-maestro has found himself consistently in the highly competitive Nasarawa United midfield this season. However Michael stole the show completely running the game in their win despite the visitors confirming their status as the league champions after their rivals, Plateau United lost 2-1 at Akwa United on Saturday.
Tochukwu Micheal completed 97% of his passes (more than any player on the pitch) all the while operating at a pass accuracy of 93.1%. He also created 3 key chances alongside his goal from the penalty spot late in the game to move them to 10th position on the table.
He told Lodgexpress official website during his post-game interview: “I derive huge joy from scoring the final goal and in the win because we were beginning to think the game was getting away from us.
“It’s very nice to win in front of your home supporters and I think we played a great match. We gave 100 per cent and were the better team.”
Tochukwu Micheal who has now scored 11 goals and has 6 assists to his name this season, insisted they deserved the victory.
He added: “It wouldn’t have been fair if in the end we had shared points and that’s why we chased for the second immediately after the goal from Olatunbosun.
“The goal was a prize for both the team and for our fans, we deserved it.”
