Gombe Utd goalkeeper Itodo Akor: I’d sacrifice clean sheet for victory

Gombe United goalkeeper Itodo Akor was left frustrated after their 0-0 draw with Bendel Insurance.

Itodo, despite being part of the Savannah Scorpions defence which kept their seventh clean sheet of the season, took little consolation from the latest shut-out as the team did not gather the three points against the group A leaders.

“Honestly, I prefer that we finish this game with a victory and concede a goal, at least we would have the three points,” said the club captain to Lodgexpress.com.

“Of course we are disappointed with the outcome of today’s game and I think we are lucky that Bendel Insurance did not score in the first half. We cannot be happy with the last two results. Its been a tough week especially coming from a loss at Ibadan and there are lots of mistakes that we are doing which we should be avoiding”.

Looking ahead with optimism however, Itodo believes it will not take much for the side to be firing on all cylinders once again in their remaining two games of the season.

“It is like this sometimes. You just need that one moment. At the moment it is difficult but we have to go for it.”
