Gombe United playmaker Ahmed Jimoh was named man of the match for performance in draw over Shooting Stars on Wednesday.
The star man showed how much of a role he can play. With the ball at his feet, Jimoh gave his side so much confidence going for a goal and he also offers the Savannah Scorpions a new dimension of directness that nobody else brings in the team.
He then kept on causing trouble for Shooting Stars by orchestrating the game from midfield and setting up his attacking teammates routinely before being substituted in the 78th minute amidst rousing ovation from the supporters.
Speaking post-match, Jimoh told Lodgexpress: “I don’t really think we started the game great in terms of intensity but everyone settled down after we received instructions from the boss. And I think we built from there.
“When you’re playing away from home, you don’t want to give them a sniff to play their style because in the NPFL if a team gets a goal (especially the home side) they can be really tough to get past and get an equalizer. So we managed the game so well, slowed it down and still created chances at the same time.”
