Gombe United newest signing Ahmed Jimoh was happy to score on his return debut during their 2-0 victory over Enyimba on Sunday.
The Nigerian playmaker who was making his return debut after previously playing for the club last two seasons, struck with an impressive free-kick, which he says was a product of efforts on the training pitch.
Speaking to Lodgexpress official website following the game, Jimoh said: “I can’t express how thrilled I am to be standing here today, talking to you all after that incredible game against Enyimba. It feels like coming home, returning to Gombe United, and making my debut once again. Scoring that free-kick was a dream come true for me, and it’s an honor to contribute to our victory
“As for the free-kick, well, I’ve been practicing those for a while, and it was just one of those moments where everything clicked. When the opportunity presented itself, I took my chance, and fortunately, it found the back of the net. But remember, it’s not just about one goal; it’s about the team’s collective effort.
“Playing against Enyimba is never easy; they are a formidable opponent. We knew it would be a tough match, but we believed in our abilities and the tactics our coach had set out for us. And it paid off.
“I also want to acknowledge my previous seasons with the club. Those memories will always hold a special place in my heart, and it’s fantastic to be back here, wearing the Gombe United jersey once more.”
