George Owen was happy to make his start for Enyimba in their 0-0 draw at Niger Tornadoes on Wednesday.

The winger arrived during the summer transfer window from Plateau United.

He told Lodgexpress official website post-game: “It was certainly a situation in which I could do better than the shot saved by the goalie. We wanted to take home the three points. We have to start from the positive things immediately, given that we play every three days. We have to concentrate on what to do to be physically at our best.

“Surely being in the wide area of the pitch is where I feel most at ease. I am at the coach’s disposal, happy to be here and ready to put my teammates in a position to express themselves at their best.

“It’s a nice change. Training with such high-level players, in such a high-level environment, is very stimulating and motivating. I want to try to fit in in the best way, get to know everyone as soon as possible.”

He concluded: “The fundamental thing is to face everything with balance. Take the positive things, in the right way, and work with my head down. I have always known only work as a means to achieve goals.”
