El-Kanemi Warriors keeper Sheriff: Every one of us on the pitch was Player of the Match against Nasarawa Utd

El-Kanemi Warriors goalkeeper Ogundele Sheriff was delighted after their stunning matchday two win over Nasarawa United on Thursday.

The Warriors recorded their first win this season after losing their first game against Remo Stars in Ikenne.

Alpha Igbudu and skipper Zayyad Musa netted for the hosts before Onuche Ogbelu reduced the deficit at 90 minutes to end the game at 2-1.

Sheriff told Lodgexpress.com when asked who he votes as MOTM;

“For me, each one of our players was Player of the Match. It was a hard fought victory in which everyone played their respective roles. We know how tough it could be especially playing against a team that lost their first game right in front of their fans, so we’re happy with the job.

“We knew we needed to improve after our last defeat and today we got a win in a really important game here which has given us the boost and confidence going into the next fixture.”

Sheriff also reacted when quizzed on his early save in the game.

He added: “If I didn’t make that save and they scored early on it would’ve been more difficult to come back into the game. Luckily, my positioning was perfect and that was what resulted to the save – we’re used to these things as goalkeepers!”
