FC Ifeanyi Ubah skipper, Uche Onuoha has reacted to his team’s draw with rivals, Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 25 fixtures.
The Anambra Warriors played out a 1-1 draw with Abia Warriors at the Okigwe township stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Patrick Egeonu and an own goal from the visitor’s defender, Tochukwu Anueyiagu.
It was FC Ifeanyi Ubah who got on to a bright start after taking an early lead through a strike from midfielder Patrick Egeonu in the 10th minutes, his first ever NPFL goal before Anueyiagu deflected a shot into his own net 15 minutes afterwards.
And reacting after the game, Uche Onuoha during his post-game conference with Lodgexpress, said;
“First of all I must thank God for a hitch-free contest here and for the result, I’m really delighted and so is everyone.
“We had a good game, got the early lead and controlled a huge part of the game and then the equalizer from an own goal, I must really commend the players, they were superb out there.
“The technical crew also did a fantastic job to see that we return with a vital point and also not leaving out the match officials, they were brilliant in their decision making and they gave the both sides a fair officiating”.
Reacting when reminded about his side’s winless streak away from home in over three years, Onuoha said;
“Well we’re aware of that and it’s not a good record if you would ask. Every season comes with a fresh set of players alongside a new blend but we’re working hard to put an end to this record and I’m optimistic we’ll break the deadlock before the end of the season.
On the result at Delta center where Warri Wolves got a victory over fellow relegation-bound side, Sunshine Stars, Onuoha added;
“It’s a result that means well for us. Like I had earlier promised the fans, I’m still standing on my words that we won’t get relegated this season and a win on Wednesday against Kwara United would mean a massive boost for us”.
