Doma United ace Nelson Abiam has praised the mentality of his teammates.

The Nigerian centre half was quick to hail their performance over the weekend against Sporting Lagos which saw them earn their first away point since January following their 0-0 draw.

Abiam, whose side have wrapped up four points from their last three games in the Premier League opening fixtures, is excited about joining the Savannah Tigers during the summer transfer window.

“I’m really delighted to be here, it was a big decision of mine,” Abiam told Lodgexpress official website.

“Personally [Never-say-die] is my mentality, and I try to show that in every ball, in every match, that is how I like my game. That is my pattern as well, to give everything that I have.

“Being someone who plays as a center-back it is very important for me to be calm with the ball, especially when they [the opposition] press us and put high pressure on.

“You just try to remain calm, and make the right call, so it’s very important when we possess the ball, to keep playing, to not be nervous.

“I try to give my best, put in a lot of energy to the team and have a good attitude as well, along with passion. We have a really good mentality here and we’ve changed many things this season. We’re in a good way but we still have to improve a lot.

“With the coach, he likes to play good football as well, which is really really important. As I’ve said and will keep saying, football is life and you have to fight for that. You cannot give in easily [on the pitch].”
