Deputy Echeta urges Bendel Insurance teammates not to relax after sealing playoffs spot

Bendel Insurance attacker Deputy Echeta says they must keep their foot on the accelerator after securing a spot at the NPFL Super Six playoffs.

The current group A leaders will head into their next fixture sitting four points clear of second-placed Enyimba and six better off than Akwa United in third following Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Gombe United after both their closest rivals could only manage one victory – Enyimba beating El-Kanemi Warriors away from home and Akwa United losing at Remo Stars.

It was the Benin Arsenal’s eighth league draws and their 16th unbeaten run in 2023 season – a new record for a calendar year, going unbeaten in all their games from matchday one – but Echeta knows there is no room for complacency.

He told the Lodgexpress official website: “We are in very top form. I don’t know if it’s our best form, but we are in very good form and we have to keep going.

“We have to not drop it because at this moment in the league, there are just two games left and it’s difficult, everyone can drop points and we have to keep focused.

“We try to be consistent, otherwise you wouldn’t win leagues and trophies. The most important thing is to remain consistent.

“Sometimes it’s not easy, but we have to try to be focused in the remaining two games and give everything because we know we have the quality to pull this off at the end, so we have to keep going.

“We’re in a very good moment and we have to keep it up and keep going.”
