Katsina United’s players fought hard to secure a 2-1 home win over Nasarawa United at the KT arena in Nigeria Professional Football League matchday 25.
It took a 29th minute goal from ex FC Ifeanyi Ubah forward, Kalu Samuel to ensure the Changi Boys left the KT Stadium with all three points.
This was a big victory in the picture of the NPFL table as Katsina United are now 15th on the log, six points clear from relegation zone.
Katsina United goalkeeper, Yusuf Mohammed was yet another indelible sensation in the game following his strings of brilliant saves in the first half.
He made three fantastic collapse-dive saves in the first half when the game was levelled at 1-1 but was disappointed after letting in a goal in the 20th minutes from Nasarawa United attacker, Chigozie Obasi.
Reacting after guiding his side to a triumph, Yusuf said in a post-game conference with Lodgexpress;
“It was a fantastic result and a tough one because we had to be on our toes and defend every angle till the end.
“Nasarawa United team were really good and made it tough to play our style but it wasn’t long before we were able to break their stronghold and take back the lead.
“Even while the game was tied at 1-1, I was rest assured we were going to get another goal because the pressure from our side was too much for them to handle, they really gave us a good fight I must attest.
“But at some point, I personally felt disappointed to concede a goal. I was hoping to extend my clean sheet run to 8 but things don’t always go as plan so I accept it in good faith and we’re now focused on our next trip to Plateau to take on Plateau United.
