Boluwaji Sholumade says Akwa United can be happy with their performance in the 0-0 draw at Enyimba on Wednesday.
The center-back accepts Enyimba remain unbeaten in their first two games of the league this season for a good reason and is confident Akwa United are still in the hunt at the top having lost their opening day fixture against newly promoted side, Bendel Insurance at home.
Sensational at the back alongside his long-term partner, Anthony Anuoke, Boluwaji dealt well with what Enyimba threw at him and pushed hard for the Man of the Match honours.
He told Lodgexpress official website: “We really wanted the three points here but picking up a point against one of the best teams in the league, you can’t really grumble about that.
“We’re not too far out of touch though we lost our first game of the season. We just need to put a run together and see what happens.
“We did really well against Enyimba and that’s a testament to the fact that we don’t fear any team. To get a draw away from home is not slightly disappointing so we’ll still take the point and focus on our next game.”
