Akwa United defender Anthony Anioke is delighted with his form this season since arriving the club from Sunshine Stars.
He has established himself as one of Nigeria Premier Football League’s solid defenders and his performance was superb for their 2-2 stalemate at Shooting Stars on Sunday.
Anioke while pairing with his favorite defensive partner, David Sholumade, was unmovable in defence, personified by his perfectly time sliding tackle to deny Malomo Taofeek from shooting in the 2nd half.
His defensive prowess was complemented with excellent passing accuracy at about 93.2% success.
He told Lodgexpress official website during his post-game presser:
“I think it has so much to do with consistency and knowing that if you play well you will stay in the team. I feel like I am doing my job really well. And when you have that faith it is just a case of going out there and being able to express yourself and I have zero fear at the minute.
“It doesn’t matter what form you are in, every player needs that consistency and that is one of the key factors about my display since the defeat on my debut against Insurance in Uyo.”
