Akwa United center-back Christopher Nwaeze has insisted they deserved their 1-0 win against Niger Tornadoes.
Matthew Etim’s penalty was enough for the Promise Keepers to triumph.
Nwaeze who was an unused substitute told Lodgexpress.com;
“I enjoyed every bit of that game. We all knew that Niger Tornadoes were always going to be tough. We were aware we’d have to be patient and fight for every ball. It’s the least you can do against this team.
They had some moments of danger but Adewale Adeyinka was there to help out. I think we deserved the victory.
“It always feel so good when the ball hits the back of the net. I still think we should have done better even after getting the goal to retain possession and still mount pressure on them. We didn’t do it too well. But at the end, we have 1-0 and a clean sheet to be delighted with so we can’t be too hard on ourselves.”
