Akwa United wideman, Ubong Friday was full of delight following his side’s slight 2-1 victory over title rival, Nasarawa United, yesterday in Uyo.
It was a win that boosted The Promise Keepers’ hopes of clinching the NPFL title for the first time ever with the Akwa Ibom based club continuing to occupy the top spot with 56 points from 30 games so far, four points adrift second and third placed Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars respectively with both teams tied at 52 points.
“I’m really delighted with the way things turned out today, we played a very good side and I’m glad we came out the best”, he told Lodgexpress sport correspondent; Faith Onwukwe.
Reacting about his side’s slump away from home to Katsina United where their 18-games unbeaten run got halted, Friday added;
“Well it was a great moment which will always go down history lane. It was all fun and exciting if I must confess but at the same time we were aware it was going to be halted.
“What we didn’t knew was when, how and where it was going to take place so we just had to enjoy the unbeaten streak while it lasted and I must give credit to Katsina United, they’ll always be remembered in history books as the team that ended our unbeaten run”.
