Ahmed Jimoh was happy with his assist for Ibrahim Yahaya’s leveller as Gombe United drew 1-1 at Plateau United.
Back to Aliyu Zubairu’s starting lineup after missing action last week, the playmaker proved Gombe United’s assist king, slaloming through the Peace Boys’ defence before then supplying a slide rule pass for attacker Yahaya.
“At first, I wanted to attempt a direct strike but then I saw the space, and at the last moment I realized that Yahaya was the best option,” Jimoh told Lodgexpress official website.
“I knew he [Yahaya] wasn’t going to be offside because he was watching the line, so laid the pass for him and it was a good finish.
“In general we endured a tough game. Every team that comes to play here have always found it difficult to get a point, they came all out but their pressures weren’t too much for us to contain.
“We had some chances to break them down, but it was tough. After the first half, it was more on the counter, so we had more space and that made the difference.”
