Abia Warriors playmaker Nweke Kalu was delighted after their 1-1 draw with his former club, Kwara United on Wednesday.
Nevertheless, Nweke admits they were fortunate to earn the point in Illorin on the afternoon.
“I believe in my teammates and we did a really fantastic job for the first 30 minutes, I thought at this moment we could get a goal,” Nweke told Lodgexpress official website.
“After half-time, a couple of changes were made and the last 20 minutes were just about defending our own goal.
“We deserved a point there, we showed a strong mentality, but I was really impressed having to face the team I consider my second home.
“It’s all over here and we still have lots of games to keeping pushing till the end of the season. Each and every single point in the league at this time really matters and when you have chances against these top teams, you need to grab them.”
Abia Warriors climbed to 14th position on the log and will return to Okigwe to welcome struggling MFM FC in matchday 25.
