Three persons were on Thursday April 1, charged before the Ikeja Magistrate for reportedly presenting a fake COVID-19 test certificate.

The suspects identified, Emmanuel Adelegan; Ibrahim Abubakar and Tope Shoaga were arrained on grounds of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence and forgery after being nabbed by the Lagos state police command for the offences committed on February 8 at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

They were all accused of obtaining N33,000 from one Chisom Emmanalon in a fraudulent way with a promise to get her a COVID-19 test certificate which was found to be fake when presented before airport authorities.

The suspects who pleaded “not guilty” to the offences which goes against sections 314, 365 and 411 of the criminal law of Lagos state, 2015, were released on bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum by the Magistrate, O. A. Layinka.

The case was then adjourned till May 19.
