Hoodlums attack Ogun politician’s home, injure mother

Some dangerous hoodlums who are yet to be identified have caused serious havoc in Ogun State.

The hoodlums reportedly attacked the residence of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress¸ Michael Agboola, in the Itele- Otta area of Ogun State.

PUNCH Metro reports that the hoodlums stormed the residence located at No 12, Agboola Street, Itele-Ota, Ogun State in the early hours of Sunday.

The house was ridden with bullets, while Agboola’s aged mother who was at home when the attack took place was beaten and injured by the hoodlums.

It was also learnt that the security guard in the house was seriously wounded and is currently hospitalised.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the hoodlums shot indiscriminately at the building and also threatened to fish out Agboola wherever he was hiding.

A cousin to Agboola, Lekan Sodipo, who went to report the incident at the police station, spoke with our correspondent.

He said, “When I reached the house, I saw that many things were destroyed. Our grandma was attacked, and the security man was also attacked. They burnt my brother’s car and destroyed many things in the house.

“Neighbours said they heard gunshots. When I got there, I saw some bullet cartridges in the compound.”

Agboola, who spoke from his hideout, said he was shocked by the attack.

He lamented that properties worth millions were destroyed, while his mother was also wounded in the attack.

He urged the police and other security agencies in the country to ensure that the attackers are brought to book.

Agboola said, “I am very sad about this attack on my house. Why on earth will the evil people attack me because of my support for a party? My mother was beaten. A car parked in the compound was destroyed too, and my security guard was wounded.

“My house was ransacked and I learnt they threatened to deal with me when they get hold of me.”

Efforts to get the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, were not successful as of the time this report was filed.
