The Joint Health Sector Unions, Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau chapter has protested peacefully in the hospital over nonpayment of salaries.
The union had before now issued a one-week ultimatum to the government of Zamfara State to settle their members’ salary arrears and correct the half salaries being paid to some of them.
The union said that they reached out to relevant authorities over the issue but nothing was done despite several assurances.
They stated that the failure of the relevant authorities to act on their demands within the 24 hours ultimatum earlier issued forced them to embark on the peaceful protest.
It was learnt that apart from Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, many health workers in other medical facilities in the State are also owed salaries for months.
