A community in Ebonyi State, Ebele in Umuogodo Akpu, Mgbo in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, was attacked by armed gunmen on Sunday April 11.
Aliyu Garba, the State Commissioner of Police, confirmed the attack and said the number of casualties remains unclear.
Also, the Ebonyi State commissioner for internal security and border peace, Stanley Okoro-Emegha who also confirmed the attack, stated that while some said it had to do with a communal crisis, others said it was carried out by suspected herdsmen.
He also said they are yet to unravel those behind the attack and the number of lives and properties destroyed.
The attack occurred hours after the governors of the south-east region announced the formation of a joint security outfit, codenamed ‘Ebube Agu’.
