A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ota, Ogun State on Wednesday, ordered two friends be remanded in a correctiional centre for allegedly taking turns to gangrape and film a 19-year-old girl.
The police arrained Oluwadamilare Oyeniyi, 30, and Okoriji Emmanuel, 30, on two counts of conspiracy and rape.
Oluwole Ayede, the State Counsel, told the court that the duo committed the offence on December 12, 2020 at their residence in Sango Ota area of Ogun.
Ayede stated that Emmanuel and Oyeniyi conspired and assaulted the victim. He also alleged that Oyeniyi and Emmanuel were caught making a video recording of their crime.
The offence, which according to him, contravened the provisions of sections 358 and 516 of Vol.1 Criminal Code Vol.1,Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The magistrate Shotunde Shotayo, who did not take the plea of the offenders, ordered the police to return the case file to the Ogun Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Shotayo adjourned the matter until March 5.
