Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, has challenged the traditional worshippers in a community in his state where residents are obstructing a road construction project and also abducting the engineers carrying out the project.
Wike was at the flag-off ceremony for road construction when he said that some members of the community were obstructing the project. He questioned why people will be obstructing a project that is meant to bring development to their community.
Directing his statement to the herbalists in the community, Governor Wike wondered why the gods they worship allow people to carry out such rebellious acts.
”Those of you that say you talk to the gods of the land, what are the gods doing? What are the gods doing? Your own is you know the gods when you want to go and ‘shack’ chicken….why not tell the gods..call them! tell them ‘Are you people sleeping?’, are you not seeing these things that is happening”
