Suddenly the lights began to dim and the appliances began to falter. Bright light around the neighbouring indicated that something was the matter with the lighting system in the house. A beautiful, cosy evening was about to be
turned sour by looming darkness. Ignorant guesses and suggestions flew from lip to lip. No one was knowledgeable enough about electricity to proffer actual solutions. The ugliness of darkness became more threatening.
Something had to be done. An electrician was called in to take a look at the lighting system. After a little fiddling with some wires, he gave a smile of optimism. The problem
had been identified. There had been some leakage along the line due to a faulty connection. In no time he was through and light was back in full glow.
This is a graphic illustration of the power of knowledge and frustrations of ignorance. Knowledge is priceless. Nothing can compare to it. Wit all my position, experience, title and what have you, in the absence of knowledge, darkness prevailed. The young man who eventually fixed the light did not have all my other credentials. But he had knowledge. He had an understanding of the workings of electricity.
