FC Ifeanyi Ubah energetic wing-back, Christian Molokwu, has expressed delight after getting on the score sheet in his side’s 1-1 draw in matchday 5 of the ongoing NPFL season.
Molokwu whose equalizer goal came in the 78th minutes of play, after firing past hapless Abia Warriors shotstopper, Ojo Olorunleke, said his goal was really special as it marked his first goal in the Nigerian top-flight division.
Speaking with Lodgexpress after the game, Molokwu said;
“It felt really good but just so disappointing the result wasn’t what we anticipated but I’m rest assured we’ll soon get our feets back to winning ways, and above all, I thank God for the goal, it meant alot to me.
“Our next stop is at Illorin against Kwara United which I’m very optimistic we’ll get all maximum three points or atleast a point there”.
Reacting to Coach Okagbue’s tactical tweak which saw winger Nonso Nzediegu subbed for defender Ekpere Oguocha with Molokwu deployed as a right winger, he said;
“The coach saw it coming, he saw that I really wanted moving forward to assist our attack, we needed to score and his tactical decision to have me operate from the right attacking wing, worked perfectly really well and led to our equalizer”.
When asked how settled he is in his new role, Molokwu said;
“About my new role as a right Winger, I’ll say it’s a welcome development, it’s a position not really strange to me. I was an attacker before being converted to a defender so personally the position switch is a welcome development and I look forward to flourishing there”.
